Deborah Jorritsma
Co-Artistic Director of CCB
Deborah has a dance background international in scope with study at the Centre de Dance Classique in France with Rosella Hightower, and the National Ballet School in Washington, D.C. with Frederick Franklin and Oleg Turpine. Deborah was a member of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre where she worked with noted choreographers Ruth Page and Leonard Massine.
Since 1984 she has staged Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, La Fille mal Gardee, Peter and the Wolf, and The Nutcracker in 1995, 1996,1998 and 2000. In January of 1998 she re-staged the magical production of Cinderella and in 2000 she brought the wonderful ballet The Sleeping Beauty to the stage. She is director/owner of Chico Creek Dance Centre, the training school for Chico Community Ballet. She has repeatedly been honored for her accomplishments by our Arts community. Deborah Jorritsma teaches the Senior Company and Junior Company of Chico Community Ballet.
